We are expecting 3 foals from Captain Handy starting in Feb 2023 and this will be his last foal crop with us as we have retired him. We ended our 2022 year with 3 foals and we are retaining one of the fillies as a possible broodmare prospect. We ended our 2021 year with 3 out of 4 expecting foals from Captain Handy. The first one was born dead 2/4 and was a dunalino filly. We of course are disheartened, but he had 3 more starting mid March- mid May. He has a grulla colt (owned by our neighbor), dun colt and a dun filly. So far we are extremely happy with everything about the 2020 Captain Handy foal we have. He has ample amount of bone, good foot, flashy color, brains, great disposition and he has got some MOVES and speed! Our goal with these foals are for a versatile using horse that could excel on the ranch and in the arena as rope prospects or even barrel prospects, but key word is versatile. We like to make a horse that is not bred to do anything specific, but that has the brains, disposition and athletic ability to do anything.

Boon Fever x Captain Handy
Hand Me The Boon aka Ace was born 5-2-23 and is the 4th foal from this pairing and they just keep getting better in our opinion. He is a BIG foal and holy moly the bone on him. He has a star and what looks like 3 or 4 white pasterns. We fully expect this guy to be a big boned 15-15.2 hand horse with athletic potential and a trainable willing mind. Ace is 89% FQHA eligible and is 5 panel NN via parentage. His 2022 full brother, A Drink In My Hand, is in S. Texas with roping in his future. His 2021 full sister, Hand of Sixes, went to be with a family in NM as a 4H yearling show project and won Grand Champion Yearling. The 2020 full brother, High Card Hand, we kept until he was 2 and then he went to AZ as a head horse prospect. He showed some amazing athletic ability, trainability and willingness.
His dam, Boon Fever aka Sally was bred by the 6666's and carries their brands. This is her 7th foal and she is a daughter of Boon San. BOON SAN is the earner of $57,579: money- earner, 2006 NCHA Open Futurity; split 6th, 2007 Bonanza Open Derby; finalist, 2007 Breeders Invitational Open Derby; 6th, 2007Brazos Bash Open Derby; money- earner, 2007 NCHA Open Super Stakes; 2007 Breeders Invitational Open Derby Sale Incentive Reserve Champion. BOON SAN is A Leading Sire. Sire of 35 RGP money-earners, Average Earnings Per Money-Earner: $23,923. Sally is out of a Playboys Buck Fever daughter, Six Fever. Playboys Buck Fever was a very neat buckskin stallion owned by Miller Land and Livestock in WY. They have this to say about him "Buck Fever and his colts are wonderful using horses that make cowboying more enjoyable! He is proven in the rodeo arena as well. His fantastic mind handles pressure, and he is fast to steers and handles them like they are nothing on the end of the rope. When he stops in the heeling, the head horses faces right around if it wants to or not. Buck Fever has thrown several top-notch rope horses and barrel horses."
His sire Jack" is a 93% FQHA registered stallion. He is 15.1-15.2 hands and weighs around 1100 lbs. Jack has big black hooves, big hip, big shoulder and a big presence. We were drawn to Jack because of his size, disposition and breeding. His kind eye is also something we love about him. Jack loves to greet you wherever you are for a good scratch. Jack is 6th descendant of the King Ranch's foundation sire, Ole Sorrel going back to him an estimated 7x. Hired Hand is only 2x off Jack's papers which is very exciting. We are huge fans of the King Ranch program! His top side also carries speed through Boston Mac. Boston Mac had a great disposition and produced very versatile foals. Jack's bottom side has Watch Joe Jack on his papers. Watch Joe Jack was one of the top earning sons of Two Eyed Jack. Captain Handy also goes to the great Oklahoma Star who was born in the Oklahoma Panhandle where Jamie is from. Just a neat little fact. Jack is going to add size, bone, great dispositions, speed and hopefully versatility to his offspring, not to mention color! Jack is homozygous dun, which means he can only produce duns. Our goal with Jack is to retain a couple replacements for ourselves and offer his other offspring as ranch or rope prospects. His first foal crop for us came in 2020. This is Jack's last foal crop for us as he has now been retired. His foals have all had reputations of being trainable, willing, easy going, and athletic. This 2023 colt should be no different.

Marsala Irish Dulce x Captain Handy
Hand Me The Sugar aka Pearl was born 2/17/23. She is a dunskin which means she carries both creme and dun gene. Pearl is the first foal from her dam Marsala Irish Dulce. She appears to be a good sized foal for the first one and she already loves to run! She is 5 panel NN due to parentage. We would expect Pearl to size up to around 15 hands. She should have the athletic ability and hopefully the dispostion to be an all around horse. Pearl has a good heavy dose of King Ranch breeding in her pedigree. We are very excited about this baby!
Pearl's dam, Marsala Irish Dulce we raised, is by King Ranch's own stallion, Marsala Red. Marsala was born, bred and broke on the Kind Ranch, MARSALA RED is a ninth-generation descendant of OLD SORREL. Rolando Silguero, who used to serve as King Ranch's Remudero (wrangler) for the horse operation, would demonstrate MARSALA RED's polite demeanor by saddling MARSALA and gather the stallion's own mare band. MARSALA is almost a mirror image of HIRED HAND, a top son of OLD SORREL. MARSALA RED is a son of PLAY RED, $136,088: split 4th NCHA Super Stakes Open Classic; 5th Polo Ranch Cutting 4-Year-Old Open Derby; Abilene Spectacular Non-Pro Classic Co-Reserve Champion; finalist in the NCHA Non-Pro Derby; El Cid Cutting 4-Year-Old Non-Pro Co- Reserve Champion. The sire of PLAY RED SALLY ($5,184 and 16 AQHA points: and 14 novice points: AQHA World Level 2 Amateur Barrel Racing Reserve Champion), ROYAL RED PLAY ($90,820: NCHA Western Nationals Non- Pro Champion).
Marsala Irish Dulce's dam is Paddys Gin Sage JW whom we acquired as a weanling from Woroniecki Ranch Quarter Horses in Hebron ND. We rode her for about 4 years before breeding. She now has been sold to the Chain Ranch in Oklahoma to continue on her wonderful producing abilites. Her sire was raised on the Tongue River and is a son of Paddys Irish Whiskey out of a Tanquery Gin daughter. Her dam is a 84% foundation bred out of the Grantier program in Montana. We loved how much bone Sage put on her babies along with their quick feet and good brains. Marsala Irish Dulce was no different. Dulce had 60 days of training put on her 2yo summer. Her family of horses is VERY proven. We raised her to be a replacement broodmare for us so that is what she is doing!
Pearl's sire Jack" is a 93% FQHA registered stallion. He is 15.1-15.2 hands and weighs around 1100 lbs. Jack has big black hooves, big hip, big shoulder and a big presence. She will come with vaccinations, branded on her left hip, coggins, health papers if out of state, AQHA papers, signed transfer. She is N/HERDA and 4 panel NN on the rest. Dolly is very friendly, easy going disposition, level headed, smart, willing and trainable. She is a very smooth mover traveling low headed. We expect her to mature to 15 hands and be a stout mare. She has lots of bone on her to fill out. She should have the athletic ability and mind on her to be a versatile horse. I do think she would make an excellent youth project.
Her dam is Paddys Gin Sage JW whom we have high opinion of. We acquired her as as weanling from Woroniecki Ranch Quarter Horses in Hebron ND. We used her for a few years before breeding her. This is her 4th foal (her 2021 foal was born dead). We are extremely pleased! Her sire was bred by The Tongue River Ranch and is a son of Paddys Irish Whiskey out of a Tanquery Gin daughter. Her sire has been a main stallion for Woroniecki Ranch Quarter Horses out of Hebron ND for some time now producing MANY ranch, rope, barrel, breeding, 4H and so many other prospects. Silvers Baby Fitz x Captain Handy
This little baby is very special to us! We are calling her Reba after Reba McEntire of course. Her mama was one of the first we purchased when we started back in fall of 2016. We have the 2018 gelding (half brother) to this little filly whom we call Arlo (Joes Okie Doc Fitz). He is a fun horse and in calf horse and barrel training currently.
Her dam is Silvers Baby Fitz. Fitz is a beautiful 14 hand mare with that Doc Bar baby doll head. She raises quality foals with good minds and easy going dispositions. She is a granddaughter of Zan Silver Parr who was George Strait's herd sire and rope horse. He is an AQHA money earning son of Zan Barr Bar. She is also a granddaughter of Doc Fitz. Easter Mae Cutie x Boot Scootin Boonie
Born 4-20-18, Lil Pistols Smart aka Boonie has been broke to lead. She has been weaned, vaccinated and dewormed. Boonie is very smart and picks up what is being asked of her extremely fast. I really think this little gal is going to be a jam up calf horse or cow horse. She is athletic and quick. Her pedigree speaks volumes to what kind of potential she has. She is lacking a bit in her back end confirmation wise for what we like. We purchased her as a weanling, but now we decided to offer her for sale. She is going to be a good horse, just not necessarily one we would like for our breeding program. Boonie's sire is Boot Scootin Boonie owned by Tay Weaver. He is a bay roan son of Smart Lena Boon who also happens to carry the silver gene too. We did color test Boonie and she does not carry the silver gene. He was never shown, but Tay and her family have used him for cutting, team penning, ranch sorting and roping. He is an smart and athletic stallion. Smart Lena Boon was ranked #1 for non pro money earning offspring in the 2008 NCHA futurity. His sire is Smart Little Lena earner of $743,275: NCHA Triple Crown. Equi-Stat #1 All-Time Leading Cutting Sire, an NRHA All-Time Leading Sire and an All-Time Leading Reined Cowhorse Sire, siring the earners of over $33,000,000. Smart Lena Boon's dam is Bet Yer Boons by Peptoboonsmal. She is an earner of $73,281: top 10, NCHA Open Futurity; finalist in the NCHA Open Super Stakes, PCCHA Open Stakes and Abilene Spectacular Open Classic.
